Dr. Rob Gregory

Dr. Rob's passion for fitness and health began in high school and grew exponentially as he entered Ferris State University where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Corporate Fitness and Wellness. While at Ferris State, Dr. Rob was active in club rugby and served on the board of the weightlifting club until he graduated in 2002. Throughout his undergraduate studies Rob competed in sanctioned and un-sanctioned natural bodybuilding, powerlifting and strongman-style competitions. It is this varied history of training that has helped him develop his global approach to patient training and rehabilitation. Using exercises not always utilized in traditional physical rehab Dr. Rob gets extraordinary results with patients who need increased stability and strength for the unforeseeable potential injuries that plague many of us from what we think are simple day to day activities. Dr. Rob went on to learn more about soft tissue injury and recovery strategies from a manual therapy perspective when he studied Medical Massage Therapy. He continued on his education journey to better serve his clients by attending National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) to finish his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. While at NUHS he witnessed firsthand the healing effects of Acupuncture for conditions beyond pain and musculoskeletal dysfunctions. It was this that empowered him to further pursue his Masters in Acupuncture so that he could help his patients beyond what his skills as a manual therapist and chiropractor had been able to treat. Dr. Rob tirelessly continues to pursue education and knowledge to be assured his skills as a practitioner of the healing arts are effective for the sake of his patients seeking conservative care. That passion has allowed him to further his acupuncture education as he has attained further specialty certifications as an Acudetox Specialist through NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) and as the first (CPHPCA) Certified Provider of Hospice and Palliative Care Acupuncture in Illinois.

Dr. Rob is passionate about working hard but working smart. He believes that for optimal health there must be a mix of stress to the body and recovery of the body. In the absence of disease or injury, a persons fitness and nutrition is their first line of defense against pain and imbalance. If we remain strong and conditioned we are less susceptible to chronic injury. Following a regular routine of conditioning is maintaining adequate mobility and muscle extensibility or pliability. The muscles should be strong and freely moving. If we let our muscles get short and tight or imbalanced, we are setting ourselves up for potential injury. This is where chiropractic care plays a major role in our ability to move and recover. Muscles move bones and joints. When tension is off in our muscles, then the joints suffer too and we limit our movement and eventually we feel pain with movement or worse, we damage the joint surfaces and begin the road to a battle with arthritic changes. If we keep ourselves in check by exercising, managing our muscles and joints and eating well, we are a force to be reckoned with.

Our Services and Fees:

Chiropractic

$45 for up to 3 regions, $55 for 3+ regions, $25 for Extremity adjustments

Chiropractic medicine evaluates the body biomechanically to determine if and where there may be restrictions in the tissues (muscles, tendons & ligaments) and joints that may cause pain and dysfunction. The dysfunction may lead to or be accompanied by joint and skeletal degeneration. Where restrictions in the body are, there will also be an attempt to balance the body out by compensation. Occasionally these compensations are non painful but eventually asymmetry can lead to poor body mechanics and uneven forces on the tissues, joints and skeletal structure which can lead to degeneration and pain. We administer several styles of joint and soft tissue manipulation based on the condition and patient preference.

Physical Therapy/Rehab

$35 per 15 minutes of therapeutic exercise

When dealing with musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries it is important to recognize that just eliminating the restrictions is not where the treatment ends. True and complete treatment of MSK conditions needs to include exercises as well. Exercises may be for strengthening and stabilizing (like weight training) or for tissue extensibility and mobility (like stretches). Exercises are also a great way to reduce the recurrence of injury and to give home maintenance should the problem happen again. Exercises prescribed and facilitated at our office and for home are used to help prevent and recover from injury or surgery.

Acupuncture

$60 for a single 20 minute needling session

Whether you have heard it called acupuncture or dry needling, the administration of the therapy is the same. Both methods of needle insertion can treat pain and muscle dysfunctions. They both use thin, sterile, single-use filiform (solid) needles to treat specific points of the body. Whether the points are associated with the energetic meridians of the body or just a specific area of local pain is the difference between "dry needling" and "acupuncture". Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a whole system of medicine that uses acupuncture to treat not only physical conditions but also mental and emotional as well. TCM uses different diagnostic information to determine the treatment prescription. The points selected in acupuncture treatments at times may seem unconnected or far away from the site of complaint but are linked through the energy of the meridian system of the body. In our office we combine our knowledge of TCM and western medicine to get you the best results for your condition. Occasionally, we may even utilize TCM soft tissue techniques such as Cupping, Tui Na or Gua Sha.

Community Acupuncture (Currently Unavailable)

Community acupuncture uses the same needles and diagnosis methods but is administered in a group setting. In community acupuncture settings there is no need to disrobe as we use points mainly on the limbs or ear to treat your condition. Please call us for more information about community acupuncture.

Recovery Boots/Pneumatic Compression Therapy

Exercise creates stress to the body and with that stress our body can accumulate metabolites within the tissues as a result of activity. These metabolites are not necessarily harmful but can lead to tissue discomfort. Recovery Boots are a form of Sequential Pneumatic Compression which help to flush these metabolites, fluid and deoxygenated blood out of the muscles and back into the circulatory system after training or competition. Recovery boot sessions may be purchased individually or in a 10-punch card for a reduced price. Sessions consist of a 15 minute cycle and must be scheduled. If desired, you may request to perform 2 sessions back to back for a total of 30 minutes of therapy which would equal (2) sessions or punches.
